Mega Mingiedi’s artistic practice bridges the realms of drawing and collage, performance, video and installation. He is best known for his large-scale cartographies of urban space, which re-articulate and, in the process, destabilise in order to radically rethink cities from Kinshasa to Johannesburg, Dakar, Paris and Strasbourg. Mingiedi studied at the Académie des Beaux Arts de Kinshasa and the Ecole des Arts Décoratifs de Strasbourg. He now lives and works in Kinshasa. Recent projects include the artist’s participation in two Urban Scenographies residences, in Johannesburg (2009) and Dakar (2010) and a first SPARCK residency, as part of the EzaOKUP collective (2009-2010).
